Preparing the Thoroughly Modern Quilt

I have started to prepare the Half Square Triangles for this quilt which I have as the first course - "Thoroughly Modern - HST maze"

I have created all the Easy 8's as in sewing the two larger square together with their diagonal seams. But I have only trimmed and pressed enough for the first section.

There are a lot of HST's in total - like 400 of them............ too arduous a task in one go, so as I had divided the quilt into 4 sections to sew, I have only prepared the ones needed for the first section.

Interestingly though, I was watching a movie and had finished trimming, so I finger pressed the seams open - only slightly, but enough to open the seam - it made pressing so much easier and saved my slightly arthritic fingers from steam burns! I think sometimes, while prep takes time, time flies when you are watching a movie! I have my movies on my ipad, so I can sit at my desk or any of my tables in my sewing room, with my ipad, watch a movie, listen to music.............. and sew, cut and trim......... and if I use my project iron, even press...........

Next step is to construct the first section of the quilt, which is the orange and yellow top left quadrant....... and write the notes for the course.

Happy Quilting,

Cheers

Brenda Marie
