Following the Thread!

My house is full of fabric, quilts and loose thread - and my One Loose Thread blog is no different!

I see myself as an imperfect quilter with a passion for colour, an obsession with fabric and a desire to share.

I am essentially self-taught and have been creating quilts for a very, very long time - and now I love sharing free quilt patterns and tutorials with others on the same journey. My life experiences besides quilting, include software development, change management, teaching, moving.... a lot, and of course family. It's been an "eclectic" life journey, which has allowed me to develop my own style and philosophy about many things, but especially about quilting.

At One Loose Thread, quilting is taught with clarity and calm. I believe confidence grows when things make sense, and precision doesn't need to feel pressured. Whether you're feeling unsure or simply refining your skills, you'll find steady guidance, clear explanations, and space to learn at your own pace. Because beautiful results begin with understanding - one loose thread at a time.

I am still developing my skills and techniques and hopefully won't stop doing so for a long time yet......... although the colour of my hair will tell you I'm around (2³ x 3 ²) and thriving!

I'm on a journey through the wonderful world of quilting, with all its variations from traditional to ultra modern, its myriad of interesting techniques and of course the amazing array of colour combinations, which I would like to share with you.

I am based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, and yes - an Aussie sense of humour sometimes weaves its way into my comments.

With a smile,

Brenda Marie
