Giving Back to those in need...
As all quilters will know, there are only so many quilts you need in your house, can give to family and friends..........
Having made more than 400 (mainly small quilts) over the last 4 to 5 years.......... I needed to find somewhere for them to go or I would have to curb my addiction to fabric and quilt making and that's never going to happen.
There are an amazing number of groups and charities out there...... and I'm just talking about Brisbane and Australia... where quilts are needed, loved, valued as a comfort for so many people experiencing difficulty, ill health, trauma in their lives at the moment. I donate quilts through "Friends Who Create" and it really is a privilege to be able to help.
Friends Who Create
Friends Who Create is a group who sew many (and varied) items for various charities and organisations helping those in need. It has been running for about 3 years and meets at the Chermside Guides Hut in Brisbane every Friday (excepting retreats and holidays).
Just over 4,000 items were sewn and distributed in 2025.
Most of the fabric the group uses is donated, but there is always a need for purchasing fabric. Monetary funds needed for fabric, rent, insurance and general items are raised through stalls and the classic Australian Sausage Sizzle outside Bunnings!

Yes of course you can sew with Friends Who Create.....
You can donate fabric....... etc.
You can support them with coffee and cake.....
If you have quilts you don't need, they will always be welcomed and distributed to those organisations looking for donations at various times of the year.
