UFPs........Unfinished Projects.......🙂

Well I am on a mission this Easter weekend to get some quilt tops quilted and taken off the UFP quilt pile and onto the UFP just needs binding pile.......

Firstly though I needed to finish quilting my "Colours on the Wind" quilt. It has come together rather nicely. The quilting was done colour on colour again and is all curves using my circle quilting templates by Amanda Murphy.

It was very random, free motion with a ruler template type of quilting, which suits me well, as it meant I did not need to try and remember the pattern....... Once the binding is done, I will take more photos and add it to me gallery. I will also write up the pattern and add that. It is a really simple pattern, it is the colour that carries the quilt.

On to the UFPs...... I have 3 that I want to finish this weekend and I am on track, 2 are quilted and the third one is probably about a third of the way there.

This one has been sitting around for a while. I love the colours, it was a jelly roll that I have used for a log cabin where the white section is only 1" while the coloured section is 2". Really like the impact that has on the overall quilt.

I focussed on straight line quilting with this one, practicing with my rulers and with quilting back over stitiches to reposition. It takes practice, I am getting better at it......

With the next one, the lollipops are just so sweet and vibrant mixed with the pink and white. Again this one was a practice straight line quilting, but is was also about angles and alignment - reasonably happy with the outcome.

This last one is so delicate in its colouring. While the border and feature fabric looks bold, the white and pale blue balance it beautifully. I did loose the plot a bit with this one though...... The first two blocks quilted perfectly and then I got lost.....LOL... managed to start the third one and misjudge the border of the block by a whole section..... the white and blue tend to blend just a bit to closely for quilting comfort, where you are not going edge to edge..... nevermind, I will get there and I will be the only one that will be able to truly tell where it went awry.......

I have been in the mood for quilting, it happens sometimes and I seem to be able to flow from one to the next etc..... four quilts quilted in 5 or 6 days..... I am pretty happy with....... I have also started sewing the blocks for "Whispers from the Heart" my new quilt design as well...... so it was not all quilting......

This one will be very interesting I think. I am using Batiks and there is a range of 12" blocks, quite a few at 6" and 1, the maple leaf combination at 18". They all tesselate well together with some of the joining blocks appliqued with a heart.....

Deciding on the quilt design for this one will be a bit of a challenge..... will have to think it through.

As you can see most of the blocks are half square triangles - ironically one of my favourite blocks. Wherever possible I use the Easy 8 Method to make them, as it really is the most efficient way to go.

The "Colours on the Wind" quilt was ALL half square triangles.......

At least "Whisper from the Heart" has some variations to it...... you know nice simple plain squares for one...... and then there will be appliqué....

Well that's probably enough from me in this blog..... every block tells a story in colour...... and I just love creating them. I hope you all had a good weekend...... happy quilting!

With a smile,

Brenda Marie
