An amazing quilt design

Well, I finally tackled curves! I am really impressed with the book and technique.

There is a specialised template/ruler to go with the book and once I understood the concept and how the ruler worked, it was a relatively straightforward process.

The first ones are always hilarious! but it did not take too long to conquer the technique and I am really happy with the result. Overall it is a bit fiddly, but the more of them that you make, the easier it gets........ that practice thing!

For me it is always a contest between technique and colour! which is more important.......... I love the design of the quilt that I picked out of this book, but the colours, especially the background fabric....... oh I love them.............! I have used black and white as my base theme, with a splash of colour (purple) in the columns. The background fabric was very different to what I had imagined before I went shopping at "The Stitch House" but it just jumped off the shelf, and I think it really works, because it helps the white columns pop................!

I am going to quilt it on the weekend on my Bernina Q20. I just have to decide the quilting patterns. Probably curves and bubbles in the white space and either curves or straight line work in the background section.......... I will have to think that through a bit more before working on it.

After a couple of trial efforts to learn the technique, the whole quilt only took two days to put together, it is 43" square.

I'll post the finished product, when I get there!

Cheers
