Summer's Night Candy
This one was also fun to make. The story starts with a decision to make my own foundation paper piecing pattern!

The quilt has not been finished yet....... it still needs quilting, which I will do on my Bernina Q20. Not sure of the design as yet, it is a work in progress, but I thought it deserved a page at this stage, which I can update as the project progresses.
..... the rest of the story
I started with the pattern this time. Intrigued by the foundation paper piecing technique, I decided I wanted to create my own rather than buy a pattern. I designed the quilt in my EQ8 software. The two blocks that I have in the quilt attracted my eye for both their perceived complexity and simplicity. One of each seemed the way to go.

When it came to fabric, I did not have anything that immediately called me, except for the background. I had a number of "black" textured backgrounds, but none big enough............ so I used two different fabrics...............why not she says............... it is all about the placement

For the colours, I went to my favourite fabric shop "The Stitch House" here in Brisbane and auditioned fabric to find the right combination of colours and colour tones.

The pattern for this one is still in progress

There is a lot of paper used in this quilt.................. so a lot of rubbish on the floor when I was tearing it out. I am going to look at the overall piecing techniques as there are a lot of options and one or two that may save me time and less mess. I will look to include that in the techniques section as soon as I can.
