Drover's Wife a Jen Kingwell design
This is an amazing pattern, complex in layout but such fun to create and playing with colour adds to the fun and it all started with a question from a customer at my favourite fabric shop.........

..... the rest of the story
I was working at my favourite fabric shop one day and a customer asked for some advice on making a Jen Kingwell quilt kit that she had recently been given. I agreed to help, but thought I had better try making one myself as I had little experience at the time with Jen Kingwell designs.

I found that I already had bought this pattern, so I wandered around the shop choosing fabric, checking for compatibility of weave, I did not want a lot of stretch in any of the fabrics. I was really going out on a limb as I am not good or comfortable with totally scrappy/mixed fabrics patterns. I think I amazed myself actually, the colours were just all there, it was the right day and the right set of fabrics.

Making all the individual blocks is obviously the starting point for this quilt. It really required a huge leap for me as I usually plan my colour combinations across the whole quilt.

In this instance though I decided to make each block using fabric combinations that I liked, and hope for the best when I placed them together.

It is definitely one of my favourite quilts............ it has stayed with me.
