My Story

My house is full of fabric, quilts and loose thread!

I see myself as an imperfect quilter with a passion for colour and an obsession with fabric.

I am essentially self-taught and have been creating quilts over a 40yr span. My experience with quilting includes hand paper piecing, hand quilting, foundation piecing, machine piecing, and quilting on my Bernina Q20.

Since 2021 when I decided to seriously indulge my passion, I have made approximately 400 quilts (mainly small baby and children's size) most of which have found homes through various charities.

I'm on a journey through the wonderful world of quilting, with all its variations from traditional to ultra modern, its varied and interesting techniques and of course that multitude of colour combinations, which I would like to share with you.
I am based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. I write quilt patterns and make any of the templates I need, these are available through various Quilt Shops like "The Stitch House" in Carseldine.

I have developed this website for a number of reasons, one of which is to share my quilting journey with you, and to:
-
encourage anyone who is interested but not sure of how to create a quilt, to give it a go
-
share my passion for fabric and quilting
-
showcase the work of Friends Who Create and the charities/organisations sharing what we sew
-
provide you with courses on how to sew some of my designs
-
provide you with information that might help your journey
-
provide a community forum where we can share our projects and stories
-
share the patterns that I write

Cheers and happy quilting,
Brenda Marie
