Checkerboard!

As always fun to make. I love working with black and white and then a splash of colour............

Black and white with a splash of pink

The 1" squares were a bit of a challenge........ the strip method of piecing is always useful for checkerboard. The border is also made using the strip method. The pattern is available via the shop.

The vibrancy of pink!

The colour options with this quilt are endless. It looks amazing in black and white with the pink but any bright colour would work as an alternative. I think the total effect would be completely different is you used a random/scrappy look with only the black or white as the background. I good quilt for exploring the use of varied colours.

freeform quilting

The quilting was a simple small meander, but I varied the colour depending on the fabric. The centre block I quilted in pink. The black squares are quilted in black, white was used on the white main area surrounding the pink and a very dark grey was used on the border.
